Near the Hotel
So, you’re planning your impending trip to San Francisco, but you have no idea where the Holiday Inn fits into the city. Here’s a post to tell you about some great things near your hotel:
- The California Street Cable Car. You can ride it up the big California Street hill, stop by the cable car museum, and do some shopping in Union Square or Chinatown.
- Breakfast (or 4am snack) at the Grubstake Diner.
- Drinks at the Bigfoot Lodge or Edinburgh Castle
- Great Vietnamese food at Cordon Bleu
- See a band at Hemlock Tavern
- Do some clothing shopping at American Rag
Elsewhere
Feeling adventurous? Hope on the Muni anywhere and take a bus from the hotel to anywhere in town:
- Get a really good Mission burrito at Taqueria Cancun (directions)
- See a classic movie with an interactive audience and old-timey organist at the Castro Theate (directions)
- Grab sushi from a floating boat at Warakabune (directions)
- Take a bus down Polk St. and visit Ghirardelli Square to stock up on chocolate.
- Go down to the pier, see some seals, eat some fish, and visit Musee Mechanique to see some old fashioned mechanized arcade amusements. (directions)
- Take the kids to the Exploratorium. (directions)
- View art at SFMOMA (directions)
- Visit Golden Gate Park
